Florida Update: 3 Months of Development and Growth

Hey all!

I just wanted to provide an update on how my time in Florida has been.  I arrived in the Winter Garden area in mid-January and immediately got to work on my game and fitness.  I definitely was shaking off some rust at the beginning of my time here, considering I had neither played golf since early November nor competed since early September.  My first month of playing definitely reflected this, but after a brief adjustment period, I have been playing great golf!  Since February 23rd I have been averaging 69.6 on the moonlight tour and have finished in the top five in eight of my last nine events, including four second place finishes.

The last event that I competed in was on April 4th and 5th in the Florida Elite Tour Championship at the Golden Bear’s Club at Keene’s Point. The field of 141 players was amazing, and it included three former PGA Tour winners: it was a great opportunity for me to compete against an elite field.

I had an up and down first round that included eight birdies and had me positioned at four under par heading into the second and final round.  Unfortunately, I did not have my best in the second round and shot one over, which put me in a tie for 28th.  Despite this, I finished well within the money. Actually, this event’s earnings allowed me to break even in my earnings compared to my entry fees, which is something that I am proud of in terms of my career and growth and is not an easy task to accomplish when playing on the mini tours.

Overall, my time in Florida has been amazing, and I am sad to be leaving for Michigan in the next two weeks.  I am extremely grateful to my trainer, Trevor Hypolite, for working with me and getting me in the best physical shape of my life, as well as my coach, Jason Guss, for his continued mentoring and advice.  Although I am sad to be leaving the warm weather, I am extremely excited to begin my spring and summer schedule starting on May 2nd with U.S. Open Local Qualifying at Muskegon Country Club.

As always, thank you for any and all support.
